Greenwood’s The Nutcracker Audition Process


Step 1: Fill Out the Audition Application
Complete the online audition form to register your dancer. This ensures we have all the necessary information before auditions begin.

Option 1: In-Person Audition

Step 2: Prepare Your Materials
Dancers ages 12+ should prepare a 30–60 second classical variation or solo. Submit your music by the night before auditions to:

Step 3: Dress Code
All dancers must wear a black leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes, and have hair neatly secured in a ballet bun.

Step 4: Arrive at Auditions
Auditions are held at Greenwood Christian School. Please arrive 15–30 minutes early to warm up and check in.

  • Elementary dancers: Check-in begins at 8:15 AM

  • Teen & Senior dancers: Check-in begins at 10:15 AM

Option 2: Virtual Submission

Step 2: Record Your Audition Video
Follow the video submission guidelines for your age group (7–11 or 12+). These include barre, center, and across-the-floor work. Dancers 12+ should also include their prepared variation.

Step 3: Submit Your Video
Send your completed video to
auditionsubmissions@nutcrackergwd.com by Saturday, July 19 at 5 PM. If your file is too large, compress it into a zipped folder before sending.

  • Mac Users: Right-click the file → "Compress"

  • Windows Users: Right-click the file → "Send to" → "Compressed (zipped) folder"
